For example, we can reduce consumption of material overall, but this may come at the expense of product robustness and reusability. By defining a range of quantifiable objectives corresponding to each lifecycle phase, this research seeks to provide a more comprehensive computational assessment of circular economy product designs. We also review CE design frameworks like the 9R framework, and a large range of design strategies for CE. The table above summarizes which CE strategies for CE are open to quantifiable assessment and optimization. We studied reducing or combining the number of optimization criteria. However, the presence of conflicting criteria meant that no single best result could be identified.
